For a Totals Mismatch and/or Installing a New Master

Also known as a "Switch 8". Suspect file corruption if something unusual occurred during the day such as a lightning strike or major power outage or if the system performed erratically before the discrepancy in totals was detected. In this case, initialize all files in the unit that has incorrect totals before performing the "5 CHANGE" as follows:

· Disconnect both fibers.

· Perform a master memory clear. - On the MASTER BOARD, flip jumper 8 on Switchpack 4 to ON [up]. Soft init the master in P1. You will see nothing on the display. Flip jumper 8 back OFF [down]. You will now see a version #.

As added "protection", also do the following. It is basically the same thing...do it anyway!

· In P2 Mode, initialize files 1 - 22 on the affected unit only.

· In PI Mode, initialize files 1 - 10, 15, 16 & 17 on the affected unit only.

· In Z Mode, run a 50 on the affected unit only to clear corrupted daily totals

· Reconnect fiber optics.

· Turn to P2 mode and begin the "5 CHANGE" procedure.

· In P1 mode at the affected unit, request your satellite files: 1 - 10, 15, 16 & 17

***NOTE HERE****If you need to get a master unit up and running on it's own *before* reconnecting to fiber [such as an "all lanes are down" situation...no reliable BMaster either....

Perform the above Master Memory Clear, then send down the Non-Grocermaster files from the PC. Then log into GM and send down ALL FILES from the PC *before* reconnecting to fiber.

Then request files 1 - 10, 15, 16 & 17

Then reconnect the fiber....then try scanning, etc in training mode.
Once the master is 'on it's own' and ringing sales in Training Mode...the perform the "5 CHANGE" procedure to update it from the other master, or if no reliable Backup Master exists, do the same thing to the Backup Master and perform the "5 CHANGE" from there.
